The built environment cannot respond meaningfully to the climate and biodiversity emergency while knowledge remains divided between disciplines.
Xylotek has joined Built Environment Declares and Biodiversity Emergency through Architects Declare, Structural Engineers Declare and Building Services Engineers Declare. Signing across all three reflects a practice that operates between design, engineering, materials and making, rather than within one fixed professional boundary.

That position matters. Much of Xylotek’s work depends on bringing together forms of knowledge that conventional construction processes often separate: technical analysis, material understanding, fabrication, craft and direct experience of how things are actually built.

Built Environment Declares is a public commitment to move beyond business as usual. For Xylotek, joining across three disciplines makes visible both the breadth of its practice and the responsibility that comes with working across them.
As long term collaborators with Xylotek, we are pleased to have supported the articulation of this commitment and the thinking that underpins it.
