The Kate: A Bristol boat sets sail for Gaza

On 17 August 2026, The Kate set sail from Bristol Harbour, carrying 12 people and humanitarian aid, joining the Freedom Flotilla Coalition's efforts to challenge the blockade of Gaza.

In the days leading up to its departure, people gathered around the boat to offer support, share messages and stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine. Al Jazeera

Spatula supported the media effort in collaboration with DREAMERS, bringing together footage and voices from those involved to create a short film for social media, helping share the story and bring visibility.

We wanted to tell the story with care, acknowledging the reality of what was happening in Gaza while finding the humanity, love and solidarity within the people responding to it.

Through the voices and moments captured, we tried to bring together a story rooted in hope. To recognise the compassion and determination of those trying to make a difference.
